PNG prevents another lossy encoding step
JPG discards some image information when it is encoded. Saving the decoded pixels as PNG stores the new file losslessly, which is useful before repeated editing or when a destination specifically requires PNG.
Transparency is not created automatically
JPG images contain only opaque pixels. PNG supports transparency, but converting formats does not know which background should be removed. Creating transparent cutouts requires a separate background-removal or masking workflow.
When PNG is useful
PNG is suitable for editing intermediates, screenshots, interface assets and software that requires lossless input. For ordinary photographs shared online, keeping the original JPG can be more efficient.
Local multi-file workflow
Selected JPG files are decoded and exported by the browser. Multiple PNG results can be downloaded together as a ZIP archive. GetResizer does not upload or store the source images.
- Select JPG or JPEG files.
- Run the PNG conversion.
- Download individual files or the ZIP archive.
