PNG and JPG solve different problems
PNG stores pixels losslessly and can preserve transparency. JPG uses lossy compression and is usually more efficient for photographs. Converting a photographic PNG to JPG can significantly reduce size, but flat graphics and screenshots may show artifacts.
Choose quality by looking at the image
A setting near 85–92% is a practical starting range for many photographs. Inspect detailed texture, text and high-contrast edges. Lower quality reduces size but may produce ringing, blocks or color smearing.
When not to convert
Keep PNG for logos, screenshots, line art and images that require transparent pixels. JPG does not improve source detail and cannot restore information missing from the original.
Batch conversion and privacy
GetResizer can process several PNG files and package outputs in a ZIP. Decoding, background compositing and encoding occur in the browser; the image contents are not uploaded to GetResizer.
