Put a PNG inside an SVG container

Create a self-contained SVG wrapper around PNG pixels for workflows that require an SVG file, with clear limits about scalability.

This is a wrapper, not automatic vector tracing

PNG stores a grid of colored pixels. SVG normally describes shapes and paths. GetResizer creates an SVG document containing the PNG as an embedded image; it does not analyze edges or rebuild artwork as editable vector geometry.

No invented vector claimEnlarging the resulting SVG beyond the PNG's original dimensions can still reveal blur or pixelation because the embedded image remains raster data.

When an SVG wrapper is useful

Some design systems, document tools and upload forms require an SVG extension even when embedded raster content is acceptable. A wrapper also provides a predictable viewBox and keeps the image data in one portable file.

Transparency and dimensions

PNG transparency remains part of the embedded data. The SVG width, height and viewBox match the image canvas, so compatible viewers display the original aspect ratio.

When you need true vectors

For editable paths, logos or cutting-machine artwork, use a dedicated tracing workflow and inspect the generated shapes. Automated tracing may simplify colors and curves and should not be confused with preserving original vector source.

  1. Select a PNG file.
  2. Create the SVG wrapper locally.
  3. Download and test it in the destination software.

PNG to SVG FAQ

Will the SVG be infinitely sharp?

No. The container scales, but the embedded PNG still has a fixed pixel resolution.

Does transparency remain?

Yes. Transparent PNG pixels remain embedded in the SVG image.

Is conversion private?

Yes. The SVG is assembled locally without uploading the PNG.
