Cropping changes composition by removing pixels outside a selected rectangle. It is the right tool for aspect-ratio requirements, distracting edges and subject placement; resizing should be performed afterward if exact output dimensions are also required.
Recommended workflow
- Choose the destination aspect ratio.
- Position the subject with enough breathing room.
- Check that text, faces and important objects are not clipped.
- Export and review the crop at its final display size.
Settings and file behavior
- Cropping and resizing solve different problems.
- A tight crop leaves fewer pixels for later enlargement.
